[Verse 1]
He wrapped the telescope in cloth each night
Written on the case: "For wonder's right"
His work was more than star charts, more than grade
Worth every hour that he and darkness played

[Pre]
The world looked tiny from the hill at three
Worldwide the same — yet yearly here with me
A year of seasons, wonder never ends
A young man learning — youth defends

[Chorus]
Wrap your mind around the whole
Write the question — that's the goal
Worldwide wonder — worth the wake
Every year a new world to make
Young in heart — forever free
Youth of mind — that's you and me

[Verse 2]
On Thursday nights beneath the open sky
Throughout the dark — no tight reply
Tight schedules dropped — the stars don't wait
Throughout the year — a wonderful state

[Bridge]
A wise choice: look up more than down
Wisdom is the star that lights the town
Wiser still: to share it with the young
Wisely teaching — every lesson sung
Woke to the fact: the universe is vast
Woke again: no moment needs to last
A wrapped gift: curiosity
A written promise: you'll always see
Word for word — the sky explains
Wording matters — beauty remains
One workshop built from borrowed chairs
A worldwide truth: the sky is theirs
Each yearly gathering on the hill
Year by year — the wonder still
The worth of one clear starlit night
Worthwhile — yes — to lose some sleep
Some worthwhile things are hard to keep
But starlight, once seen, never leaves

[Outro]
Write your name across the Milky Way
Work with wonder — every single day
Young forever — if you choose to stay
The stars don't move — you find the way

語彙ストーリー:Thursdays On The Hill

English

For twenty years, every Thursday, Mr Đức awoke before dawn and carried his telescope to the eastern hill. By nine p.m., thirty students — then two hundred — had climbed up with him. No lecture notes. No exam. The password to his equipment cabinet, he told the first class, was: "Why?"

He had wrapped the telescope in the same cloth since 1998. Written on the case in marker: "For wonder's right." The work he did was more than star charts. He believed — wisely, it turned out — that wonder is a skill, and that the worthwhile thing about a sky full of stars is not their distance but their invitation: every worldly problem shrinks under them.

His teaching was wonderfully simple. Every student kept a star log — one page per Thursday. The wording of the entry mattered: not "I saw Jupiter" but "Why is Jupiter bigger than Earth?" Well-worded questions led to long-lasting thinking. "No question is worthless," he repeated every week. "No child is unworthy of a sky full of stars."

The world-class astronomers who came from this village — three of them, with various medals between them — all credit the same moment: the first night on the hill when the otherworldly silence of the open sky made them feel both tiny and enormous. Wrapped in starlight. The wonder of not knowing — and wanting to find out.

In his last Thursday gathering, at seventy-two, he looked out at a crowd of two hundred people across four generations. Yearly now the gathering has grown. He said only this: "Write your name across the Milky Way — not in stone, but in questions. Work with wonder. The young in heart never truly grow old." Then he wrapped the telescope one last time and handed it to his youngest student. The longing in her eyes, he said later, was worth every cold Thursday night. Every single one.
