[Verse 1]
Three generations on the tide —
His grandfather, father, and his pride
A tiny boat, a tired hand
Together — three lifetimes — this is the land
[Pre]
The total of his years at sea:
Touch-and-go with what used to be
A tough old heart in a changing world
The track of storms — the nets unfurled
[Chorus]
Trade the fear for something new
Tightly hold what still is true
Till the earth — time will renew
Tiny steps toward what's true
The tide will turn — it always does
Together here — because love does
[Verse 2]
His daughter came from the university
She'd understand the opportunity
Unusual — she wants to use the shore
Usually the young leave — she wants more
[Bridge]
Typical father: “This is our trade”
Typically proud — “don't be afraid”
But the fish are fewer — facts are thick
The sea is warm where it once was thick with stock
Throughout the year the patterns shift
Thorough study gave them this gift:
Though the fishing life must change
Thought it through — within their range
A seaweed farm — she read about it
Thoroughly she planned — no room for doubt
Tight budget, tiny grant, a tough first year
Together now — the tide is clear
Through the loss — they found a track
The sea still touches them — they're coming back
A whole new chapter of the same old love
A whole new way — a whole world above
Widely shared — the news, the hope
The wide blue sea — and they will cope
[Outro]
The tide that took — has also given
Tiny steps that keep the family living
Tough enough to change — and still forgiving
Together: the most courageous trade of all

English
Ông Bảy had fished this bay for forty years. His father fished it before him; his grandfather's net is still hanging in the house as a reminder. The total of those years is in every line of his face — and in the tide-worn look he gives the sea each morning, measuring what used to be against what is.
The sea is changing. Throughout the year the patterns shift: warm-water seasons arrive earlier, worryingly lasting six months now, and the fish move or don't return at all. Typically, he would say nothing — typically, he would resist. But the season's yields told a story too clear to argue with. Though the fishing life had to change, he didn't know how to begin a new track.
Then his daughter Linh came home from university with data and a proposal: a seaweed farm. Unusual — a typical fisherman would have laughed. He didn't laugh. He listened. She had thoroughly researched every aspect: the water chemistry, the market, the historical records of coastal villages that had successfully adapted. She understood the sea, she said, because he had taught her to. That touch on her shoulder — the way fathers say they understand — was his answer.
The tight budget made the first year hard. Together they worked the loom of a new trade — tightly held to the old values: thoroughness, patience, quality. Throughout the trials, he tracked the data while she managed the supply. The whole family was involved: aunt, cousin, the old neighbour who had also seen the tide turn against the traditional nets.
Now, two years in, the widely-shared results have drawn attention from three other fishing villages. Their seaweed yield is sufficient, their method thorough, their market growing. Through the loss of the old way — they found a new whole. "Worth every difficult conversation," Linh wrote in her journal. And through the wide blue horizon, the tide turns — as it always has — toward those who are brave enough to turn with it.
